Thank you to all the people who educated the public on Puppy Mill Parlor this Saturday! One potential customer went to West Suburban Humane Society, and two people stopped to tell us their stories of the dogs they bought from Tammy Coglianese. No papers were given to both of these people, so they had no idea where their dogs came from. If you have been sold a sick or dying dog from this store, please visit www.caps-web.org and fill out a Pet Store Complaint Form. The picture of the sign is a Petco sign they most likely got from a dumpster. Join us this Saturday from Noon till 2:00 in a peaceful protest to stop puppy mills. We have plenty of signs and brochures. Thank you!
About 15,000 people attend every year for the various vendors, entertainment, and food.
CAPS NY Director Barbara Dennihy took a booth for the second year in a row to educate consumers about pet shops and puppy mills.
There was lots of interest this year. The huge "Models Against Pet Shops and Puppy Mills" banner had people stopping by all day to ask about the campaign and our work.
Dennihy also spoke about New York State Senate Bill S3753 and how New Yorkers can help get it passed. Passage of this bill will allow local municipalities to regulate pet dealers in NY state communities.
Thank you Barbara for your hard work and dedication!

Thank you to everyone who tried to protest the Puppy Mill Parlor today! We weren't there for 15 minutes and this wonderful place of legitimate business called the police on us, after yelling at me, "I'm going to kick your a** from here to...." don't know, didn't hear the rest. They then took all their garage sale? merchandise and left. Please join us next Saturday from Noon till 2:00 to educate the public on the fraud that is going on in this store. If you have been sold a sick or dying dog, please visit www.caps-web.org and fill out a pet store complaint form. Thank you!

In the second part of our Advocacy show, we are looking at the protest outside Puppy Parlor in Lisle, Illinois.
We will be speaking to the lady who started the protests (CAPS Chicago Campaign Coordinator Ida McCarthy), which take place every Saturday from 12pm-2pm.
How did she find out about this place which ranks number two on the HSUS top 100? What made her want to get out there and raise awareness?
Even though the neighbours are against it, why haven't they done anything about it? How can they stand the smell of decaying flesh come from the back of the store?
Listeners are welcome to call our show and ask questions of their own, or tell us about puppy mills they are aware of, or of anything they are doing to help shut down puppy mills.

“The only thing that’s going to stop this is to ban the sale of puppies at pet stores,” said Ida McCarthy, Chicago Coordinator of the Companion Animal Protection Society. As many as 30 cities in the U.S. have done just that including Los Angeles. San Diego is the latest considering a ban. In Canada, Toronto has enacted a similar law.
“You have to stop the demand and the puppy mills – where are they going to sell their dogs? There are always going to be puppy mills but there’s not going to be thousands of them like there are now,” she said.
