Puppy Mill Shut Down In Lisle

Publication/Event date: 2014-03-03
Publication name: Lisle Patch
URL for more info: http://lisle.patch.com/groups/opinion/p/puppy-mill-shut-down-in-lisle
Summary:
The dogs are finally out of the back room of the Puppy Mill Parlor. The Almost Home Foundation has 35 dogs that are in bad shape. Donations, volunteers, and foster homes are needed. The picture you see, is a before and after. The dogs are finally receiving the care they deserve. No more cages. No more dark rooms. No more scary noises. Real food, not dumpster dived expired food. Real bowls to drink from. Real affection and love from a person, not a monster. No more drunks scaring and abusing them. The ages of the dogs that have spent their entire life in a cage range from 1 year to 5 years, 5 months. That is what you call animal cruelty and should never ever have been allowed to go on for years and years. This was NOT a pet store. This was a puppy mill on Main Street in Lisle.

Lisle's Puppy Parlor closes its doors

Publication/Event date: 2014-03-03
Publication name: Chicago Now
URL for more info: http://www.chicagonow.com/raining-cats-dogs/2014/03/puppy-parlor-closes/
Summary:
A suburban Chicago pet store that has been breeding puppies at its location and had been subject of protests for more than a year has closed it's doors. The Puppy Parlor had been one of 12 Chicago-area pet stores investigated by the Humane Society of the United States in 2012 that traced the origins of many of the dogs sold in the stores to puppy mills. The store's owner also operated a breeding operation at the facility and was called out by the HSUS as one of the 100 worst puppy mills in the US last year.

Summary:
I thought for sure that South Shore Living had chosen me to be one of the 10 most influential women on the South Shore of Boston. I was able to live with the fact that the magazine had chosen Mother because she and I posed for photos together for the article. She also posed with the Bratty Brothers (Spencer, Wylie, and Oliver), but being that I was quite the consummate professional and they acted like brats, I was positive that the magazine was going to feature the photo of Mother and me posing on an overturned rowboat. To my dismay, the magazine used a photograph of Mother sitting with Oliver (Wylie is below them, but you can’t see much of him). Oliver is very prominent in the photo. How could this have happened?

Puppy Mill Parlor - Closing?

Publication/Event date: 2014-01-26
Publication name: Lisle Patch
URL for more info: http://lisle.patch.com/groups/opinion/p/puppy-mill-parlor--closing
Summary:
It took protesters from the Companion Animal Protection Society (CAPS) 13 months, but "Store Closing" signs appeared in Puppy Parlor's windows on 1/18.  Have protestors' efforts - to educate potential victims of the risks of buying a sick puppy mill puppy from this establishment - been successful?  Has Puppy Parlor realized their animal abuse, animal cruelty, and consumer fraud is not welcome in Lisle?  Evidence suggests the answers to these questions are, "Yes."  In time we'll know for sure.

Albany, N.Y. - On Thursday, January 9, 2014, Governor Andrew Cuomo signed A.740-A/S.3753-A or the “puppy mill bill” into law. The new legislation, which the New York State legislature passed last summer, will allow local governments, like New York City, to enact stricter laws regarding pet dealers. Municipalities in New York will now be able to pass ordinances like those sponsored by the Companion Animal Protection Society in California, Illinois, and Florida.
