As Los Angeles continues to endure the pain of job losses, home foreclosures and cuts to city services in California’s great recession, thousands of dogs and cats are abandoned. Meanwhile, countless unlicensed backyard breeders thoughtlessly churn out more litters. Our shelters are full to capacity with unwanted pets who are either “owner-surrendered” or stray.
