| When illness begin end | Unknown. I noticed small bruises on her stomach, but thought it was merely a kennel rash of sorts when I bought her. The bruising got much worse, red spots appeared in her mouth, ears, everywhere on her body. She was loosing her baby teeth and the blood would not clot in her mouth, thus there was continual bleeding from her mouth. On May 3, 2011, I woke up to a very lethargic girl. Her stomach was bloated, her gums were white. I rushed her to the vet only to learn that she was bleeding internally into her abdomen, had a temperature of 105. A blood transfusion was suggested but it was unknown if it could help her. Unfortunately,I had to euthanize her to put her out of her misery. Upon calling Heartland Pets, they simply said, "Bring IT back for an exchange puppy." After speaking to the owner of the pet store, he seemed genuinely upset and stated, "Nothing like this has ever happened before." I have yet to contact the breeder. |

| Please describe conditions | There are small, cramped kennels with glass fronts for people to view the animals. There are grates under the animal to catch its fecal matter which the employees pull out to clean. The pet store is relatively clean and tidy. But, it is not with the pet store that I have the issue. It is the puppy mill in which the puppy came from. I would like to know the hereditary defects of the parents, this is not given by the pet store. Under Pennsylvania Law, they did not provide me with a clean bill of health for my puppy, it was simply suggested to take her to a vet. |
