| Diseases and Illnesses | Moderate to severe hip dysplasia, despite that this dog was 2 years, 8 months old, and advertised to be free of hip dysplasia. |
| When illness begin end | I received her on 08/16/2009, and she was noticed to be sitting on her right hip (the better one, with only mild dysplasia), and stretching constantly, but because the breeder claimed that this dog was x-rayed and claimed to be clear of dysplasia, i didn't x-ray her then.
I would NOT have purchased an adult dog from the West Coast that was less than her description of this dog. Unfortunately, NOTHING she claimed was true about this dog appeared to be true, with her temperament and severe distress being evident immediately after I received her. The breeder refused to answer ANY of my emails about this dog's behavior and distress, and only sent a brief and rude email 2 weeks after I received her. Since 2 weeks after I purchased her, she has ignored all my attemtps to contact her, despite the fact that she NEVER sent her original AKC registration, pedigree, and access to her [alleged] preliminary x-rays taken in Nov 2008 from which she claimed the dog to be free of hip dysplasia. |

| How did you hear about shop | Via American Kennel Club and German Shepherd Dog Club. They had a list of recommended breeders listed by state. Then, in reading the various narratives on her website, particularly regarding health and hip dysplasia, I decided for Grunenfeld Shepherds. |
| Please describe conditions | I arranged a trip from VA to San Diego and El Cajon to meet Jackie Athon and to select a puppy in person from her approximately 18 months prior to seeing and agreeing to purchase the adult dog Greta (formerly known as Zenith by the breeder). When I arrived, the breeder brought out 7 dogs in various groups, but denied us a tour of the kennels. She also refused to answer how many dogs she owned. "More than 20 and less than 40" is all she would tell me. |
